“Hi! I’m Reyna, and not too long ago while snacking on a slice of pizza in between sets, I jokingly told my husband that I should start a business called Barbells and Pizza because it’s the two things I enjoy the most. We both had a good laugh thinking it was such a silly idea. But, by the end of that workout I had decided I was going to make it a reality. And I’m so glad I did! Barbells and Pizza is what I wake up passionate to work on. I love creating new designs in my head, putting pen to paper and drawing them up, and then seeing them come to life in our products. As a thicc girl, I love creating clothing that all women can wear, whether they’re a size 16, like me, a size 0, or a size 22! I think all women should feel amazing in their workout clothes. I love what I do and with your support I hope that I can keep doing it for many, many more years to come. Thank you all for helping make my dream a reality. You guys rock!”

 

Reyna Lay was born and raised in Houston, TX. She is an Army Veteran and an Army wife. She is  a first generation college student and a daughter of an immigrant entrepreneur. 

In December 2014 she graduated cum laude honors with a Fashion Design and Product Development Honors Degree from the College of Business at Missouri State University. Reyna was one of only 47 students who received their bachelor’s degree from both the Honors and the Business College. She was also honored with the Best Designer Award for her graduating class and the Senior Design Scholarship. She went to make her family even more proud when she graduated with a Masters in Management and Marketing degree with Cum Laude Honors from Harvard University in May of 2019.

In her spare time, Reyna Lay is serving at her church in her hometown or spending time training as a competitive powerlifter within the RPS Powerlifting Federation. She has set three bench press world records in the 220 pound weight class and two in the deadlift. She brings her dedication and tenacity to both her professional and personal life and constantly achieves amazing success! She is the Chief Executive Officer and designer of Barbells and Pizza.
